Student Dean

Summary of Education and Relevant Experience

B.A. (psychology concentration), Antioch Seattle; current Psy.D. student, Antioch Seattle (expected graduation in fall 2008).
A member of the President's Standing Committee on Diversity at Antioch, Pat Russell became the first Student Dean on the Seattle campus in late 2007.

Among her areas of expertise are working with diverse individuals and communities, cultural and anti-bias education, infant mortality, family mental health, domestic violence, adult basic education and literacy, welfare reform, housing, emergency feeding programs, substance abuse awareness and youth and family services.

She served as a fellow, teacher assistant, and graduate assistant in 2006-07 at the Antioch Community Counseling and Psychology Clinic, Antioch Seattle.

In addition to her work at Antioch, her past experience includes serving as the director of Adult Basic Education Programs at Seattle Goodwill Industries, program management director at the Central Area Motivation Program, director of The Ready for Life Connection (REFLECT), which included teaching basic life skill classes for mothers who receive public assistance, and at Seattle Emergency Housing Summer Youth Entrepreneurial Program as a volunteer assistant instructor and lead instructor in addition to conducting student assessments. Professional Interests

Her Psy.D. dissertation focuses on Behavioral and Psychological Attributions to Slavery by a Contemporary African American Family.

She currently is working with the Seattle/King County Department of Public Health Infant Mortality Outreach Project on a research project examining the connections between racism and stress on women of color of childbearing age.
