Disability Support Services | Qualifications & Services
You may be eligible to receive accommodations through Disability Support Services (DSS) if you have:
- A physical, mental or sensory impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities (caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning and working)
- A record of such impairment or an abnormal condition that is medically recognizable or diagnosable.
Documentation Required to Receive Accommodations
To receive accommodations, professional documentation must be presented from a medical doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, neuro-psychologist or other professional diagnostician. Documentation must be in writing and include a detailed description of the disability including any limitations.
Services Provided by DSS
Disability support accommodations are provided on an individual basis and may include, but are not limited to:
- Extended time on assignments
- Interpreters
- Note taking
- Books on tape/CD
- Tape-recorded class sessions
- Scribes
- Priority registration
- Disability parking
- Large print
