Student Accounts

The Student Accounts Office handles tuition and fee payments and issues financial aid refund checks. It handles locker-rental payments, bike-room key deposits, library-card reimbursements, art-studio fees, student parking permits and student emergency loans.

It can also help you arrange a Bookstore Account, a convenient way to charge the cost of your textbooks to your student account.

Paying Your Tuition

The Schedule of Classes lists tuition amounts and due dates. You can pay in person or by mail, phone or fax.

You can pay tuition with cash, check, money order, third-party voucher (such as from an employer or agency), debit or credit card, or financial aid. A tuition payment plan and automatic credit-card billing can help make paying for school as easy as possible. Ask the student accounts staff for information and forms.

Student Emergency Loans

Students experiencing an unexpected and extreme financial crisis and who have exhausted all other financial resources may apply for a short-term, interest-free emergency loan.

Unexpected and extreme financial crises are considered situations in which life and health issues that could not be planned for are at stake (e.g. money is needed for emergency medical attention or emergency car repairs for a vehicle required to get to work, etc.). You may be asked to provide documentation to support your request for this loan.

Loans are subject to approval and may be written for up to $500. Students may be approved for an emergency loan only once per 12-month period. The loan period is for a maximum of 60 days.

Bookstore Accounts

Students whose financial aid is greater than tuition and fees each quarter may activate a bookstore account to charge the cost of textbooks and required supplies, up to $500, at the Antioch University Bookstore. Total bookstore account charges are then transferred to your student account and deducted from financial aid refund checks.

How do I activate an account?
Complete a Bookstore Account Activation Agreement and return it to the Student Accounts Office. You need to complete this form only one time while you are enrolled at AUS. Your original signature is required; no faxes, scans or telephone requests will be accepted. Student Accounts will automatically activate a bookstore account for you each quarter after the following conditions are met:

  • Your financial aid must be certified, ready for disbursement and greater than all charges on your student account. Financial Aid is certified for all quarters detailed on your Financial Aid Award Letter. You will not need to confirm certification of your aid with the Financial Aid Office each quarter.
  • You must be registered for classes. You must register at least half-time to receive financial aid and your registration must be reflected in AIM.

Once these conditions are met, allow two business days for the Student Accounts Office to verify and provide eligibility information to the bookstore. This process will occur automatically each quarter. You will not need to contact the Student Accounts Office each quarter to request account activation.

What's next?
You will be notified by FirstClass e-mail each quarter when your bookstore account has been activated. Once notified, just go shopping at the Antioch University Bookstore, either in person, on-line or by phone. After selecting your textbooks and any required supplies (everyday supplies and other merchandise may not be charged to your student account), tell the cashier that you want to charge your purchase to your bookstore account. You will be asked to show identification.

When can I use my account?
You may use your bookstore account from the day it is activated until the account expires the day before the quarter begins. Accounts for undergraduate students with sufficient Pell Grants expire at the end of the second week of the quarter. As long as a credit remains on your account, make purchases as often as you like until your account expires.

How much can I charge?
Your bookstore account will be activated for the estimated amount of financial aid available after payment of tuition and fees, to a maximum of $500. You are responsible for paying any amount over $500.

What if my eligibility changes?
If for any reason you no longer qualify for a bookstore account, such as due to reduced financial aid or an increase in your credit load, the Student Accounts Office requires two business days to confirm your new status and notify the bookstore. You are responsible for paying any overcharge to your student account.

The Bookstore Account Activation Agreement is available here and on campus at the Bookstore and Enrollment Services Office.
