Courses are offered in a weekend format on the Antioch Seattle campus and in a weekend format at the Academy for Coach Training (ACT). See the ACT website for a schedule of Edmond classes.

Certified Professional Coach (CPC) certificate of completion consists of a total of six courses.

ED5874-F: Theories and Practice of Coaching (2 CEUs)

Tuition: $1,250
This highly interactive course is intended for a wide audience: managers seeking to improve their leadership abilities and employee development skills, as well as individuals seeking to begin developing a coaching practice or more effectively develop one. Students explore a range of coaching theories and best practices and will rapidly increase their skills. Topics include theoretical foundations of coaching, adult development, social psychology, motivational theories, organizational development and human systems thinking. In addition, students gain an overview of different coaching types, experience on how to use personality style assessments and inventories as part of the coaching practice, and develop the business case for the value of coaching. Students also receive videotaped feedback on their coaching. There are pre-class and post-class assignments. Taking this class in conjunction with the five courses offered through the Academy for Coach Training qualifies students for a dual certificate: one for the Coaching Program from Antioch University Seattle and the Certified Professional Coach (CPC) Certificate from the Academy for Coach Training.

Tuition: $2,600
Students experience the transformational process of coaching firsthand and discover their unique vision, purpose and values, as well as create and launch a career and life master plan. In addition to the workshop, there will be 10 weekly 90-minute telesessions with an ICF accredited coach. This coach partners with each student to help him/her move forward and stay on track while completing his/her master plan. The telesessions also allow the coach to assist in clearing away any obstacles or stumbling blocks and in celebrating students' accomplishments. Taking this course in conjunction with the PCP above qualifies students for a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) Certificate from the Academy for Coach Training.

In this course, students receive an overview of the field of professional coaching and develop coaching skills and tools to enhance their listening and communications capabilities. These capabilities enable a coach to accelerate a client's learning, whether in professional settings or assisting with decision-making in a client's private life. Students learn effective terminology, behavioral technologies and the five roles of a coach. Students practice giving and receiving effective feedback and determine the steps to take in furthering their coaching careers. Each student receives a course manual, "Co-Active Coaching" by Whitworth, Kimsey-House and Sandal, "The Business of Coaching" by Dorcas Kelley and a resource guide.

This course emphasizes mastering key skills with a focus on the transformational power of coaching. Students learn how to help clients discover and clarify their values and how to access their essential selves, their innate wisdom and the core issues. Students also practice the Transformational Model of Inside-Out coaching and each of the seven power factors of coaching, as well as integrate new tools and structures to support client learning, accountability and effective follow-through. Students take home tools to use in the workplace and in private practice while gaining confidence to begin working with clients.

This 24-hour comprehensive course is for individuals, entrepreneurs, business owners and coaching professionals who are, or aspire to be, internal or external coaches for organizations. As the fifth step in the Certified Professional Coach (CPC) certification program, the course helps you design and support the successful launch of a coaching business. You have opportunities to:

  • Practice and strengthen your natural coaching skills
  • Expand your ability to support a broader range of client issues
  • Learn how to attract your ideal clients
  • Design effective marketing strategies
  • Learn and practice effective enrollment skills
  • Discover and effectively communicate your unique strengths
  • Develop a distinctive marketing plan for building your practice
  • Learn how to sell the benefits and value of your coaching practice

Mastery (4.2 CEUs)
April 8 to Aug. 20, 2008
This 19-week telecourse provides student coaches an opportunity to receive structured comprehensive support while gaining confidence in working with actual clients. Students also develop their emerging coaching styles. Coaching practice and strengthening core competencies are emphasized. Students continue to practice coaching techniques with fellow students, develop skills for giving and receiving feedback and integrate coaching techniques through mentored one-on-one client coaching calls with an experienced certified coach and peer coaching sessions. During their evolving professional practicum, students complete their training by integrating classroom learning and observing different coaching styles and tools. Additional assignment requirements include creating and implementing a coaching-related master project, book reviews and other weekly assignments.
