ED 4514: Case Management: Best Practices & Standards (6 CEUs)

This highly interactive class introduces theories and skills that support client change, such as theory of change, motivational interviewing, building rapport, keeping clients accountable and cultural competence. In addition, participants learn client assessments, writing case notes, charting and documentation and working with special populations. Participants learn effective strategies that address client barriers: substance abuse, mental health, criminal backgrounds, learning disability, domestic violence, homelessness and other disabilities. Participants gain practical information that will benefit their clients about the local economy and hiring trends, and help transition them into corporate America, making the best job matches for clients and marketing clients with barriers to employers. Participants also learn how to support client upward mobility with a particular focus on staying in the job, financial literacy and career advancement. Finally, case managers learn how to prevent burn-out and of local resources available to them that support client transitions.
