How long does it take to complete the program?
The program consists of five courses, taken one per quarter. It begins in the spring quarter and runs through spring quarter of the following year. Most students complete the program with 24 credits. Once you are admitted into the program, you determine a study plan with your adviser to complete the endorsement requirements.
Can I get credit for previous work elsewhere?
In consultation with Antioch faculty, specific courses may be waived if you can demonstrate competency. Documentation to request a waiver must include at a minimum: official transcripts of coursework completed within the last three years, course syllabi and any other documentation regarding previous professional experience.
What's it like to be an adult learner in this program?
Here's what Laura Drake, the first to complete this endorsement, says, "I was able to use my 30 years' experience in the world of theatre to help me receive my theatre arts endorsement at Antioch. My
acting/directing/teaching portfolio of photographs, reviews, letters and
tapes was assessed for credit toward the endorsement. I didn't have to take classes in
areas I was already proficient, something I considered a waste of time and
disrespectful to me as an experienced artist. Also, the project I was teaching/rehearsing in my drama classroom was used for my practicum in the endorsement."
"I would highly recommend Antioch," Drake adds, "for receiving a theatre arts endorsement,
especially if you have the experience of doing theatre in your life."
As a student, do I have access to Antioch's library?
While enrolled in this program, you are entitled to make use of the resources available in Antioch's library.
