Mary Weinecke
Mary Wieneke, Ph.D., core faculty in the Center for Programs in Psychology – How medical and psychological issues overlap is an area of particular interest for Wieneke, who has a master's degree in nursing in addition to her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Wieneke has addressed medical and psychological issues across the life span and within developmental and family systems, from premature infants to those in hospice settings. She has studied how chronic illness and cancer treatment have an impact on mental functioning, including the cognitive impairment of breast cancer patients after chemotherapy. Mind-body-culture integration is another of her areas of expertise. Wieneke has worked in hospital, public health and community mental health settings and maintains a private practice with treatment issues that include depression/anxiety, trauma survivors, sexuality/gender issues, chronic illness and cancer and multicultural diversity.
