Alejandra (Alex) Suarez, Ph.D.

Alejandra (Alex) Suarez, Ph.D., core faculty in the School of Applied Psychology, Counseling and Family Therapy – Suarez is one of the few Spanish-speaking psychologists in Washington. Her professional interests are psychopharmacology, health psychology, mindfulness-based practices and other issues of mind-body integration and cross-cultural psychology, including issues of immigration and work with Latino populations. She is president-elect of the Washington State Psychological Association. Since 1986, she has consulted with schools, governmental agencies, medical institutions and the legal system. For many years, Suarez was lead psychologist at a local health care community clinic, where her work was at the interface between psychology and primary medical care.
